Sheraton Atlantic Beach Celebrates Summer with Summer Variety Package Deals

To celebrate the remaining weeks of summer, the 200-room Sheraton Atlantic Beach on North Carolina's Crystal Coast today announced that it is offering a variety of family and military appreciation promotions. The promotions begin today and continue through the end of August, with a few continuing through the end of the year.

"The summer family vacation has been a quintessential American tradition since the 1950s," said Tina Purifoy, hotel director of sales. "In light of rising gas prices and an uncertain economy, the Sheraton Atlantic Beach is offering affordable promotions for families and military personnel, so that vacation doesn't have to be sacrificed this year. We've created an affordable oceanfront vacation, with resort amenities. We have all the services to take care of you, and the island promises adventures ranging from exploring Fort Macon, a fully-restored 19th century American army base, to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knolls. There is no other island like this, and there is no other resort where families are only steps from the ocean, and all their needs are taken care of at a price within their budget."

The packages include:

-- Blackbeard's Buried Treasure: Package includes a discounted room rate, dinner at Milazzo, the Sheraton's on-site Italian restaurant, and entry in the treasure hunt. Kids under the age of 12 are invited to search for Blackbeard's "treasure": plastic eggs buried in the sand. Each egg includes a prize ranging from chocolate coins to a gas card or dinner at Milazzo. One egg will include a seven-day vacation package for a family of four, including hotel, a gas card, and tickets to various island attractions. 8/17-8/20 and 8/24-8/27, $399 total for two-night package.

-- "Sculpt for Wildlife" Sandcastle Festival: Scheduled during the "Sculpt for Wildlife Sand Sculpting Contest," this package includes two nights in an ocean view room for a family of four, dinner at Milazzo, the Sheraton's on-site Italian Restaurant, four tickets (two adults, two children) to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and one family entry into the "Sculpt for Wildlife Sand Sculpting Contest" on Saturday, August 2. Participants will enjoy demonstrations from renowned sand sculptor "Sandy Feat." The event begins at 9 a.m., with judging at 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter. 8/1-8/3, $559 for two-night package.

-- Last Beach Blast Before School: Get in that last trip to the beach before school starts! Includes discounted room rate. Available Sunday - Thursday, 8/1-8/31, rates starting at $159 per night. Rate code: Schools1

-- "Spoil 'em Rotten" ... A Grandparents Escape with the Grandkids: Families traveling with grandparents will be treated to a complimentary breakfast each morning, four passes (two adults/two children) to the Sheraton's private fishing pier, four fishing poles and bait, four tickets (two adults/two children) to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knolls, and a bucket of beach toys to build sandcastles. 7/16-8/18, $219 per night, 8/19- 8/31, $159 per night. Rate can be applied to up to two rooms.

-- Hook, Line & Sinker-Fishing Package: With one of the few fishing piers left in North Carolina, the Sheraton's private pier offers access to an abundance of sea life. This package includes two nights in an ocean view room, four passes (two adults/two children) to the Sheraton's private pier, fishing poles, tackle, and bait for four people, a guide to local fish and breakfast each morning ... and the Sheraton's chef will prepare your daily catch each night. 7/16-8/18, $245 per night, 8/19-8/31, $185 per night.

-- Southern Virginia Special: The Sheraton is inviting their northern neighbors down for a visit. Guests with a Virginia driver's license will receive a discounted room rate, dinner at Milazzo, discounted lunch at Molly's and four tickets (two adults/two children) to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knolls. 8/10-8/28, $219 per night, 10 percent discount at Molly's. Two- night minimum.

-- Air Force and Coast Guard Appreciation: To honor the armed forces, the Sheraton will be observing National Air Force Day on August 1st and National Coast Guard Day on August 4th. Air Force and Coast Guard personnel will receive a discounted room rate; one beer bucket at Molly's, Sheraton's beachfront bar and grill; and discounted Molly's fare. Military I.D. required. 8/3-8/7, $149 per night, 10 percent discount at Molly's.

-- R&R: Created for military personnel based in North Carolina and Virginia, this package includes a discounted room rate, one beer bucket at Molly's and discounted Molly's fare. Military I.D. required. 7/16-8/31: $189 per night, 10 percent discount at Molly's.

-- The Godfather-Dinner and a Movie: In celebration of Milazzo, the Sheraton's on-site Italian restaurant, this package includes a one-night stay in an ocean view room, $50 towards dinner at Milazzo and The Godfather DVD box set. 8/1-8/31, rates starting at $249 per night.

Located at 2717 Fort Macon Road, the Sheraton Atlantic Beach Oceanfront is the largest beach property in coastal North Carolina. The hotel features 200 guest rooms, each with the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper(SM) Bed and spectacular ocean views, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting space that can accommodate groups of up to 600 people.
